James Blair Sherwood, the American-born, British-based businessman, was the mastermind behind this vintage railway project. In 1977 he bought two original carriages at an auction that were withdrawn from the Orient Express service.
Over the following years, he spent 16 million dollars to purchase 35 sleeper, restaurant, and Pullman carriages. These vintage trains date back to the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s. Then on 25 May 1982, the first London–Venice Orient Express rolled into service.

The vintage express operates between London and Verona/Venice and Paris and Verona/Venice. No matter where your voyage will take you, it will evoke memories that you will cherish for years to come.

Step aboard the Venice Simplon-Orient Express to enter a world of timeless nostalgia and vintage glamour.

The Venice Simplon-Orient Express has three elegant restaurant cars. L'Oriental originally was a kitchen Pullman car built in 1927 in Birmingham, but eventually, it was retrofitted with black lacquer panels and joined the Orient Express. Etoile du Nord's carriage was built in 1926 in England, and it's decorated by the gorgeous art and craft of marquetry. Finally, Côte d'Azur's car was built in 1929 as a first-class Pullman, and the French glassmaker, Lalique, designed its interior.
Pictured below is the Etoile du Nord restaurant carriage.

Designed by Gerard Gallet from a dining car, the beautiful art nouveau Bar Car is the beating heart of the train.

The joyful steady-handed bartender serves cocktails to the affluent guests while the jazz band plays music.

The sleeper carriages have a range of accommodation available, including Grand Suites, Cabin Suites, Twin Cabins, and Single Cabins.

The carefully restored vintage cabin interiors are designed in art deco style. Authentic craftsmanship is visible throughout the French-polished cherry woods, lavish upholstery, and antique features.

During the day, the Twin Cabin lets you admire the passing scenery, and in the night, it converts into upper and lower berths.

However, if you opt for the suites, they come with separate sitting and sleeping rooms.
