Built on the site of the old Fenway Motor Hotel from 1959, they've done something smart here - instead of erasing its history, they've embraced it. The whole place celebrates Boston's rock music scene while keeping that authentic vintage motel feel. The renovation process took place in 2014, and they poured 10 million dollars into making The Verb one of Boston's coolest hotels.
The building was originally designed in the "Googie" futurist architectural style popular in the 1950s, characterized by upswept roofs, geometric shapes, and bold use of glass and steel. The renovation preserved these elements while adding bits of modernity.
Today, The Verb is part of Boston's unofficial "Fenway Cultural District," which includes the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Museum of Fine Arts, Berklee College of Music, and of course, Fenway Park.

The Verb Hotel
The hotel is right next to Fenway Park (the baseball stadium of the Boston Red Sox), where you can practically hear the baseball games from some of the rooms.

The name "The Verb" was chosen to represent action and energy, which are associated with rock music and baseball. It's also a nod to the hotel's connection to the written word through its partnership with the Boston Phoenix archives.

Their vinyl collection is genuinely impressive—they have thousands of records that you can actually browse and play, not just look at.

The hotel doesn't just have random music memorabilia. It features a curated collection of artifacts from the Boston Phoenix, an alternative newspaper that ran from 1966 to 2013. Their longtime music editor, David Bieber, helped curate the collection, giving the hotel authentic Boston music history cred.
They host special events for Record Store Day each year, bringing in local DJs and sometimes featuring limited vinyl releases available exclusively to guests.

Queen-themed king-sized room
The hotel has 93 rooms (including the 10 vintage trailers), each with unique features. Many contain actual typewriters, custom-designed furniture inspired by mid-century designs, and Crosley record players. The "Backstage" rooms include setlists and tour posters from specific Boston concerts.

Pool view from the room
They kept all the mid-century motel vibes, too. You know those classic 1950s motels you see in old movies? It's like that, but actually clean and with decent WiFi.
Vintage Trailers

In 2022, The Verb Hotel expanded its accommodations by adding "The Backstage Collection" - a cluster of 10 custom-restored vintage trailers around the pool area.

The beautifully executed trailers look fabulous inside and out.

They've become so popular as the hotel's premium accommodation that they often book out months in advance, especially during baseball season and concert dates at nearby venues.

Each 170-ish square foot trailer features unique music-themed designs with authentic memorabilia, queen beds, full bathrooms, kitchenettes, and private decks.

The rectangle-shaped pool is original to the 1959 property and was carefully preserved during renovation.

In the 1960s, it was a popular spot for local college students and even hosted small concerts.
