Alcázar del Rey Don Pedro | Parador de Carmona
The Alcázar del Rey Don Pedro is situated east of a large walled enclosure at the highest point of Carmona and the Alcores region. Originally, there was a fortification from the Almohad period at this strategic location. However, in the 14th century, Pedro I restored it and constructed a grand palace.
The Parador de Carmona is among the most popular attractions in this town, famous for its unique beauty and location
The palace underwent a modern restoration in 1976, transforming the ruins into the current Parador de Carmona. Today, the hotel features 63 rooms, a seasonal pool, and a garden.
In 1931, the building was recognized as a monument of historical and artistic significance, and in 1993, it was designated a Site of Cultural Interest.
The central courtyard is decorated with pretty Sevilla tiles
The central courtyard, featuring famous Seville tilework, and the dining hall with vaulted ceilings are imposing, but there is always something to admire at every turn.
The courtyard's centerpiece is a fountain
The hotel's restaurant is in the former monastery dining room, which has a sacral grandeur characterized by brick-laden arches.
Some of the most emblematic dishes at the restaurant include spinach with chickpeas prepared in the Carmón style, Iberian pork glazed with parsnip emulsion, and traditional gazpacho. The dessert selection adds to the tasty gastronomic experience, with options like "tocino de cielo" and homemade custard served with "pestiños a la matalahúga" being popular favorites.
Superior room with an incredible panorama of the Carmona Valley
The rooms are spacious, elegant, and modern, but it's the views that truly captivate guests. From every balcony and terrace, you can enjoy a breathtaking panorama of the Andalusian landscape and the nearby town of Carmona.
Private balcony
Parador de Carmona has a mesmerizing view of the Vega of Carmona from its terrace.
You can come to dine here, even if you aren't sleeping at the hotel.
Surrounded by lush green gardens and featuring inviting sunbeds by the pool, you may find it hard to leave the hotel at all.
If the relaxing atmosphere doesn't diminish your desire for sightseeing, the Parador serves as an excellent base for exploring Seville. Be sure to allocate some time to visit Carmona as well. The Roman necropolis and amphitheater showcase the town's ancient history, while the old city walls are a stunning sight not to be missed.
