Located in the back alleys of the chic Cours Julien area of Marseille – famous for its sunny terraces and arty crowd; this brand new hotel features a minimalist design with street art highlights. The rooms are decorated with graffiti and contemporary prints and stencils. There are rooms specially designed for families and people with handicaps.
The hotel is owned by the Trigano family (co-founders of Club Med), French philosopher Cyril Aouizerate, and Philippe Starck. The team set out to create a series of hotels to tell the unique story of the world. This is their second incarnation (after MAMA Paris) and it takes inspiration from the Mediterranean – cool in the summer and warm in winter. The unique features include a welcoming octopus in the reception, a giant table football game that can be played by up to 16 people, and a music stage that has many instruments hanging behind it to encourage impromptu jam sessions. The restaurant serves a simple Mediterranean fare that seeks to avoid the cliché of normal Marseille cuisine.
