The awe-inspiring setting in Southern Tyrol with the Dolomites peaks is one of the best-selling points of the Forestis hotel, but it also has the highest rooftop bar in the world.
The Dolomites is Italy's spectacular mountain range with 18 peaks above 10,000 feet (3,000 meters) and a UNESCO World Heritage Site legal protection because it's so unique.
The site of Forestis is 5,900 feet (1,800 meters) above sea level at the southern side of the Plose massif, with thick evergreen forest surrounding its buildings.

Forestis dates back to 1912 when the Austro-Hungarian monarchy opened a sanctuary in the mountain to treat tuberculosis patients.
After a 30 million Euros investment, the former Rosalpina hotel became the luxury Forestis resort in 2020.

The resort consists of four buildings, a pre-WW1 part, and a modern wing with elegant towers echoing the surrounding nature.
The heritage timber pavilion houses the reception area, and its South Tyrolean wooden ceilings and stairs were carefully restored to their original glory. The beautiful historic building's facade is made of pine wood and stones of the Ploseberg.

The contemporary fountain in the lobby showcases the purity of the Dolomitian water.

Then there are the three modern towers designed by local architect Armin Sader. The pillar-like structures are a modern interpretation of how mountain huts should look when they extend vertically rather than horizontally.

20 of the 62 rooms and suites are located in the historic building, while 42 Tower Suites and Penthouses are spread over the three tall buildings.

The rooms and suites face the Puez-Odle Nature Park with the most iconic peaks of the Dolomites.

Tower Suite
The minimalist space was designed to highlight the magnificence of the Dolomites, framing the view as if it was a painting.

Penthouse

The two-floor penthouse has a high-ceiling living room with a wood burn fireplace, and both levels have terraces. So, it's only a few steps outdoors from your bed if going to the rooftop is too far.

The grand unveiling of the dramatic Alpine panorama is in your hands each day when you wake up. Opening the earthy-colored curtains in the morning is a theatrical catharsis.

It also comes with a mini spa with a traditional wood sauna and a heated rooftop pool where a thin (but strong enough) layer of glass panel separates you from the vast mountainscape.

The state-of-the-art spa complex spans two floors and 21,528 square feet (2,000 square meters) of space. There is an outdoor sauna with a cold plunge pool filled with glacial water for the brave.

The resort takes eco-friendliness seriously. It runs on 100% renewable energy, there is a zero-waste policy, and during its construction, for every tree hulled, twice as many were planted.

The hiking trails start from the resort, so after breakfast and putting up your gear, you are ready to head out.

During winter, the resort turns into a ski-in ski-out place, with the Plose resort offering 26 miles (42 km) of blue, red, and black slopes.
