Billed as a “four suite B&B,” the Follonico bears only a loose resemblance to the shabby seaside experience of the usual B&Bs found in Europe. It is run by a husband and wife team and is perfect for a quiet getaway in the Toscana countryside. Breakfast is served reassuringly late in the morning, and the rest of the day, you can spend exploring the countryside and eating out in one of the great gastronomic landscapes of the world.
The design is “rustic chic,” where the restored 19th Century farmhouse is spiced with “found objects” and Italian design pieces. There is plenty of space both in your room and in your rain dance shower. You will have free broadband and the use of the spacious reception areas downstairs. The house overlooks the amazing 16th Century renaissance church, San Biagio, which still contains a fresco painted over 700 years ago.
