Castello di Petroia - Medieval Fortress Hotel In Italy

Location:

Mengara Italy West Europe
Castle

The Castello di Petroia is an impressive medieval fortress set amid the rolling hills of the Umbria region of Italy. Perched above the Chiascio Valley, the castle dates back to the 12th Century and witnessed many historically significant events. Thanks to extensive restorations, the Castello di Petroia has been beautifully preserved and now welcomes guests to experience its mystery and walk in the footsteps of royalty.

The compound consists of three separate buildings; the former residence of the noble family, the watchtower, and the guardians’ quarters. There are 13 guest rooms located throughout the castle, all of which are beautifully decorated in the traditional style and elegance of the region. Much of the original architecture, including the wooden beams, fresco ceilings, and stone arches, remain intact, and the furnishings still bear the artisans' markings from the 18th century. Depending on your budget, you can choose from the Classic rooms, which offer spectacular views of the hills and countryside, or opt for one of the more decadent rooms. The Suites make you feel as if you are the Lord or Lady of the manor and include a private Jacuzzi where you can enjoy a relaxing soak as you take in the beautiful scenery.

The Castello di Petroia is the perfect setting for a romantic getaway in the Italian countryside. Whether you are lounging by the pool, exploring the hiking trails in the surrounding woods, or indulging in an exquisitely prepared meal at the Accomandugi restaurant, you are sure to be swept away.
