1 Hotel
Brooklyn BridgeAmong the hundreds of luxury hotels in New York, it's a challenge to introduce a genuinely novel concept to the city. However, the 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge, which opened in 2017, has managed to achieve just that. It combines eco-chic, luxury, and a touch of industrial roughness to create a unique atmosphere.
The 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge, a sustainable luxury design hotel, is located on Pier 1 on the East River and offers one of the most spectacular views of Manhattan. The hotel is easily accessible by ferry, as the pier is just a few meters away.
The individually designed, panoramic rooms with wooden floors and lots of plants, the roof terrace with pool and bar, fantastic seasonal gourmet cuisine in the restaurant, a small cinema, and a luxurious spa and fitness center with yoga classes make this hotel so unique.

The former working-class district where the hotel was built has been transformed into a neighborhood with chic office buildings and residential lofts, attracting young, creative individuals who have also influenced the design of the 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge.
The neighborhood has a lot going on, including the riverside Brooklyn Bridge Park, many creative shops, numerous art galleries, great restaurants, and cafés.

The 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge's interior was designed by local artists using native plants and recyclable natural materials. The many green plants also contribute to its unique atmosphere and fresh air.
Eco-Chic
Design hotels are visually stunning but often harmful to the environment due to excessive plastic packaging and water wastage. 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge stands out as a cool and sustainable option.
The lobby has an impressive 8-meter-high plant wall, and all furniture, artwork, and bedding are crafted from natural materials.
Each of the 194 rooms is equipped with recycling bins and glass water bottles, and toiletries are packaged in paper bags.
Harriet's Lounge
The welcome card contains plant seeds, and a clever moss column absorbs shower moisture. You can even leave your clothes that you aren't going to anymore and the hotel will deliver them to a local charity.
The eco-friendliness goes even further. All wood used comes from recycled sources. 1 Brooklyn Bridge Hotel can rightly claim that not a single tree was used in its construction. Of all the building materials, 54% come from recycled sources, and furniture upcycling accounts for 90%.

The hotel's energy supply comes entirely from wind power, which is also a first. Rainwater is collected to irrigate the adjacent Brooklyn Bridge Park. But what is almost more unbelievable by local standards is that not a single plastic bottle is in the entire building.

The Brooklyn Bridge feels so close; lying in bed and looking out over the illuminated, sparkling bridge is a magical experience in the evening.

The interior design integrates old objects such as industrial lamps, old wooden floorboards, and tiles from the past.

The mattresses in the 1 Hotel are filled with ecological, sustainably grown materials, including hemp.
Shower timer - 5 minutes until the clock runs out
The closeness to nature is also reflected in the 'rain showers,' where the water flows in a way that mimics natural rainfall. After five minutes, you are reminded that showering for too long wastes water.

Unlike other hotels, where you are gifted glass-bottled (or sometimes even worse, plastic-bottled) water, at 1 Hotel, you can use the in-room "water station," which is New York's famously good tap water filtered three times. Why pile up waste when you can drink water right from the tap?
How about a plunge in a chiseled stone tub with a view like this?

Harriet’s Rooftop
The absolute highlight is the sunny rooftop terrace with a pool and a unique view of Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. In summer, the rooftop terrace and bar is also a popular meeting place.
Skyline brunch at Harriet's Rooftop
From the rooftop terrace, you can see the Brooklyn Bridge, the East River, and the Manhattan skyline all at once, which you can visit even if you're not staying at the hotel due to budget constraints.
It will be hard to leave a place like this, even for a moment, but if you step outside, Brooklyn's coolest places are nearby.
You will find pretty, walkable areas like the Brooklyn Bridge Park, the DUMBO area (Down Under Manhattan Bridge), the East River, and one of New York's best neighborhoods, Brooklyn Heights, which is right behind the hotel.
